This painting was inspired by how the moon looks in winter. Specifically, since I moved to Japan, I noticed that I can see the moon more clearly and crisply than I could before, and especially on clear winter days, I can see the moon even in the afternoon when the sky is still blue. My fascination with how clearly I could see the moon inspired me to start this painting, and as I painted it, I included scenery from places I visited at the time, like mountains and parks. I also included tickets and receipts that I had collected in my daily life. Ultimately, like many of my artworks, this painting is a record of what I saw, where I went, and what I did at the time that I painted it.
